All our strength, hopes, prayers and faith go to our fallen friends family members, and constituents.
Presently all efforts are focused on life preservation,
and immediate disaster relief.
We are ...
GALATA,
The City
of Florida City, The City of Homestead, The Alliance for the Development of Haiti, the World Conference of Mayors, The Black Conference of Mayors, and other partners are pleased to present to the
World, The National Leadership Conference of Haitian Mayors. Every year a conference
is held in the United States featuring informative
leadership workshops, roundtable discussions and other hands-on activities that
assists the 140 Haitian municipalities and their leaders to better service their constituents
and townships in Haiti.
The
mission of the National Leadership Conference of Haitian Mayors is to help
each city achieve self-sufficiency through the use of mentoring opportunities,
coordination of resources, and collaboration. This project has been
embraced by the National Conference of Black Mayors, Inc. (NCBM) and the World
Conference of Mayors, Inc. (WCM). At
the National Conference of Black Mayors’ 33rd Annual Convention held in Baton
Rouge, Louisiana in May 2008, a resolution was adopted recognizing a New Partnership
between the National Conference of Black Mayors and the Nation of Haiti, in
which the NCBM agreed to provide technical assistance to the coalition of Haitian
Mayors in areas that include, but are not limited to trade and infrastructure.
GALATA
coordinates all leadership development events and activities for the Haitian
Mayors and elected officials. The First National Leadership Conference of
Haitian Mayors was held on Wednesday May 4 through 7, 2005 in Homestead and
Florida City, FL. The Summit provided technical assistance and networking
opportunities to over 60 Mayors and Officials from Haiti including the former
Minister of Defense, Honorable Moise George. This event was an overwhelming
success and has been followed up with several projects dedicated to improving
the quality of life for the Citizens of Haiti. During various visits to Miami,
our honored guests were introduced to the workings of our municipal governments
as well as the private sector through structured tours and learning
opportunities. In addition to this, they visited local churches and non-profit
organizations to learn about the management and operational requirements of
providing services to the community.
GALATA is
a not-for-profit community based organization headquartered in Homestead, FL.
Since 2005, we have assisted the Mayor of Florida City, the Honorable Otis
Wallace in identifying resources that are available in the United States to help
Haiti. In addition to GALATA’s main office in Homestead, FL, GALATA has opened
offices in Atlanta, GA and Cotes-de-Fer, Haiti. GALATA is a non-partisan,
non-political organization and our work towards this project is strictly designed for the
betterment of the residents of Haiti.
We are
excited about the changes that are taking place in Haiti and are seeking your
support in making the National Leadership Conference of Haitian Mayors a
success. Feel free
